River and Independiente draw 1-1 Martín Demichelis’ team drew on their visit to Avellaneda, on Matchday 10 of the Professional League Cup. Miguel Borja scored for River.

The first half was divided into two segments: initially, neither team managed to trouble the opposing keeper, dominating midfield possession but lacking in decisive penetration into the final third. Independiente had a chance with a header from Joaquín Laso, while River responded with a wide right-footed shot from Claudio Echeverri and a bicycle kick from Miguel Borja following a corner kick.
Franco Armani pulled off a brilliant save in response to a header from Gabriel Ávalos, in a play that was later disallowed for offside. River linked up well in attack, and Borja set up a fine solo play to unleash a powerful left-footed shot from long range. The shot took a deflection, leaving Rodrigo Rey unable to react, and securing the 1-0 lead. Borja came close to making it 2-0, but the home keeper denied him with a low save in a one-on-one situation. Independiente leveled the score in the final stretch with a tap-in from Ávalos off an assist from Mauricio Isla.
In the opening minutes of the second half, Borja troubled Independiente’s defenders and created danger. River had an interesting chance with Echeverri, who collected the ball on the left, cut inside, and struck a right-footed shot that narrowly missed the left corner of Rey's goal. Pablo Solari came off the bench and quickly made his presence felt in the attack with some key contributions.
Independiente began to pose a threat only around the 70th minute mark, with a shot from Alex Luna that was met with a good save by Armani. In a swift counterattack orchestrated by Facundo Colidio on the left, River switched play to the right, and Solari unleashed a powerful shot that Rey cleared in the heart of the goal area. With this draw, Demichelis’ team now has 18 points and continues to hold onto a top position in the group.
