The pre-season leaded by Marcelo Gallardo, is demanding, and the physical work essential to face the second half of the year.
Break time, strategically scheduled during the early morning and late afternoon (to avoid high temperatures), is divided between the nap and the entertainments.
Gonzalo Martínez told us the insights of how River players live during these intense work weeks.
"The coach likes hard training. We have a tough pre-season and it is vital to be in great shape. Recoveries are also of great importance. The coaching staff knows how to carry it very well. We are training at our 100% ", said Gonzalo, emphasizing that the technical body is always looking for modern ways to renew workouts.
Regarding personal growth, he considers making a huge evolution throughout his three years at the Club. "I feel much stronger," The player said.
During break times, Gonzalo told us that with Nacho Fernandez they enjoy drinking “mates” before lunch, and playing cards at night before going to sleep, "this helps us relax our minds and lower the anxiety", as they ease their body for a better recovery.
At last, he revealed that sometimes, depending how training went, the group likes to stay chatting after dinner, or simply go to sleep for a long, nice rest.
