Olympic Sportspeople Recognized In the build-up to the Saturday match against Aldosivi, Rodolfo D’Onofrio and Club Atlético River Plate’s authorities honoured the Argentine sportspeople who took part in the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games.

On behalf of the Argentine Olympic Committee, its President, Gerardo Werthein, who was also President of the Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games Organizing Committee, was present. On the playing field, he addressed a few words to the spectators.

The event was also attended by coaches Carlos Retegui and Mariano Ronconi, players Lisandro Zago, Tadeo Marcucci, Facundo Sarto, Ignacio Ibarra (hockey, women's gold medal and men's bronze medal); Dante Cittadini (sailing, Nacra 15 gold) and coach Nicolás Schargorodsky; Handball coach Gastón Boiman (bronze medal); Mateo Delmastro (badminton) and Agustina Roth (BMX Freestyle gold).

The international event was held from 6-18 October and 4000 sportspeople from 206 countries took part. For the first time, there were equal numbers of women and men competing.

The Argentine delegation won a total of 32 medals: eleven gold medals, ten silver medals and eleven bronze medals.

Buenos Aires 2018 has left a great legacy not only to Argentine sport but also to society as a whole through the promotion of Olympic values.
