“My Relationship With River Is For A Lifetime”, Gallardo Said. The coach was excited for signing his contract for another four years with the Club and mentioned the challenges and project he has ahead.

This Wednesday afternoon at the Auditorium of the Monumental Stadium, Rodolfo D’Onofrio and Marcelo Gallardo gave a press conference regarding the contract renewal of the coach for four years.
The President of the Club was in charge of opening the conference. “I am excited, it is an honor and a great joy. I have always said that Marcelo is so much more than just a Wednesday and Sunday coach. It has to do with forming a group of people, with values, with belonging to River, with defending River’s colors. It has to do with so much more than soccer, with a general project regarding the infrastructure, the reserve of young players, with leaving a mark. I am proud to say that we have signed a contract for four years with Argentina’s best coach.”
On the other hand, Gallardo said: “I am happy and very excited. It is a four-year relationship, but that is just a detail. My relationship with River is for a lifetime, I feel I belong to this house. I want to thank the unconditional support from the first day from Rodolfo, all the Directors and the people. I am filled with pride and satisfaction to continue to be related with such a prestigious institution.”
Then, he added: “The expectations are always the best. We have an idea that we have been developing and that is in process. Our players are going to give River’s fans many satisfactions.”
Regarding the backups, he said: “We are trying to succeed at all negotiations. We have to wait and see, we cannot say that things are defined because there is nothing closed, but we have to see how the negotiations develop. The fastest they can come, the better. We are doing everything necessary to concrete them.”
Regarding this subject, D’Onofrio added: “Regarding Armani, we have send an official letter to use his exit clause. Regarding Pratto, there were discussions and, in the next hours, we will make a concrete offer.”
Gallardo continued: “We never know what will happen next with soccer. We could think that the contract will continue until it is terminated. If I signed it, it is because I feel it, and not because my heart tells me other things. We have been very reasonable and sensitive, but the results always have the last word.”
Regarding the immediate competence and the final against Boca Juniors, he said: “The Supercopa will be the first important challenge of the year, it means a title, and we will play against our all-time rival. In the short term, it is the main goal.”
The coach explained: I feel I am in my best moment. I try myself all the time. I feel complete. We have a great challenge ahead, and many people will join us and work so we can keep evolving in every level to be more solid and better.”
“We want to have a team that identifies us, that can take a clear idea. It is the great challenge each semester. We will have a lot of challenges and we will need a team that can have in all its positions players that can give us the possibility to choose to compete at all fronts”, the coach concluded.
Finally, D’Onofrio closed the conference saying: “In this three and a half years, as President and with the Board of Directors, we have seen that Marcelo is much more than just a coach. He always wants to win and to go further. I am sure that all we are doing right now will be our legacy to the next president, and as a fan I will enjoy the work we are doing with Marcelo’s team and the Directors.”
