Julian Alvarez voted best player in the Americas in 2021 River’s forward has won the most votes in the traditional survey by the Uruguayan newspaper El Pais, ranking in first place.

2021 was an exceptional year for Julian Alvarez: He was one of the team's key figures, winning three titles with the River jersey and being the Professional League top scorer. Furthermore, he was called up by Lionel Scaloni to the Argentina national team and was part of the squad that won the historic CONMEBOL Copa America final against Brazil at the Maracanã Stadium.

To top off this glorious year, the young forward won the award for best player in the Americas. In the yearly survey carried out by the newspaper El Pais, Julian won 28% of the votes, outvoting Gabriel Barbosa (Flamengo) and Gustavo Gomez (Palmeiras).

Finally, Alvarez was also voted into the 2021 ideal team by both journalists and fans.
