Copa Argentina: River won in Mendoza and is now in the semifinal Marcelo Gallardo’s team overcame Sarmiento de Resistencia, with authority by 3-1. The goals were made by Juan Quintero (two of them), and Rafael Borré.

“El Millonario” was better positioned during the first minutes of the game, and so the dangerous plays arrived: a long pass to Rafael Borré, who tried to elude the goalkeeper (Juan Carrera), but he managed to connect after a long touch. In the following one, Luis Silba had the first chance for Sarmiento, but he missed the ball when he was face to face with Franco Armani.

Then, Nacho Scocco tried from afar, on the right side, but his shot ended hitting the woodwork. The forward also had a free kick that was close to Sarmiento's goal.

The first goal came after a defensive slip, and a fantastic personal maneuver by Juan Quintero, who gracefully eluded a defender and the goalkeeper and guided the ball to the back of the net.

River shouted the second goal a few minutes later, after a precise definition by Borré, thanks to an assist from Scocco. Meanwhile, reaching the end of the first part, Silba scored a goal in an uncertain penalty by Milton Casco.

In the second half, River did not lower the intensity, and was closer to third one than Sarmiento of the equalizer, threatening in two occasions: first, with Nacho Fernandez, who could not define a very good collective play and then Borre managed to caress a through pass by Nacho Scocco.

After an inattention of the rival’s last line, Nicolás De La Cruz made a pass to Rodrigo Mora whom, inside the area left it in Quintero’s hands. He got into position, and powered a great shot, scoring the 3-1 to settle the game in Mendoza. In the next instance, “El Millonario” will play against Gimnasia La Plata or Central Córdoba.
