The match at the Monumental Stadium had an unexpected start, due to an early injury of Milton Casco, before the first minute. The defender could not continue, and Nicolas De La Cruz entered in his place. And it was San Martin who had the first opportunity, as a result of Rodrigo Moreira's deviated header from a free kick.

River settled down and became the owner of the match. Almost like a replica of the grand finale at Madrid, Lucas Pratto connected a center after a good play by De La Cruz, but his shot went high. In the following one, the Uruguayan could not direct a good cross from Juan Quintero with his head.

The Colombian player handled a stopped ball and his shot at the near post almost became River's first point. There was more: a clear shot by Ignacio Fernández, in front of the target, which found the good reflexes of Jorge Carranza, who drowned the goal. On top of that, Nacho suffered a discomfort and had to be replaced by Cristian Ferreira.

When the team was in numerical inferiority, before Ferreira's entrance, Quintero scored the first one: good wall with Pratto and a left-footed shot, to place, to the farthest post of the rival's goalkeeper, River's first goal. He almost had the second one after another good collective maneuver, but Camilo Mayada did not reach Ferreira's header, entering from the right.

In the second half, River continued being in control of the match and went in search of the second. The first arrival was at Ferreira's feet, after a good play by Quintero. Then, after a maneuver on the left, Pratto and Quintero could not score. It was Ferreira, after a nice personal move, who finished off at the first post.

The clearest one: Matías Suárez replaced Quintero and the first time he touched the ball ended almost in a goal: Borré recovered on the right side, gave it to Pratto and the striker sent a precise center for the 7th player, who finished off inside the small area and the ball bounced off at the goalkeeper's body. River had two shots in one: first Carranza blocked Suarez and then De La Cruz touched it for Borre, who found the goalkeeper's quick response.

In the final stage, and after going a thousand times in search of the goal, the celebrations came at the feet of Suarez, who was pleased to score his first goal at the Monumental, after a series of rebounds, and that wat stamp the scoreboard. The visit was discounted through Ramiro Costa, but there was no time for more. Next time around, El Millonario will host Newell's next Saturday for another round of the Argentine Super Liga.
