River was determined to take over the match and had the first scoring chance: on a good collective play, Rodrigo Aliendro struck a cross that Lucas Beltrán failed to receive. On the next one, Esequiel Barco tried from outside the box off a corner kick, and Colón set up a dangerous play with Eric Meza making a solo move and striking a right-footed cross that went just wide of Franco Armani’s near post.

Nicolás De La Cruz tried to score with a right-footed crossed shot and later, with a shot that deflected off Beltrán's backheel: Ignacio Chicco made a low save on both efforts. Finally, the Uruguayan midfielder took a free kick and sent a shot into the keeper’s upper right corner, scoring the well-deserved first goal in the first 45 minutes.

River continued to dominate in the second half, while Colón barely threatened River’s goal on a couple of set pieces, but Armani comfortably made a save on all efforts. Right after the 60th minute, on a quick run up the side, Nacho Fernández made a pass to Beltrán, who directly set the score at 2-0 to seal the win.

With this win, the team managed by Demichelis now has 53 points and took one crucial step to win the title. River’s next rival is San Lorenzo, which sits second in the table on 42 points. The match will take place this Saturday evening.
