THE MOST ATTENDED SUPERCLÁSICO IN HISTORY

The match played on Sunday, April 27 against Boca Juniors for the Torneo Apertura marked a new milestone for River Plate: following the latest stadium upgrades, the Mâs Monumental hosted 85,018 fans, making it the most attended Superclásico in history. It was a day like no other. It was a matchday like no other.
The previous record was set on February 25, 2024, with 84,567 fans. Over the past few months, the Club has continued with its large-scale infrastructure and renovation plan, upgrading stands and other areas to enhance the fan experience, setting the stage for the most attended Superclásico ever.
THE MAKING OF A HISTORIC RENOVATION
In 2019, the Stadium’s capacity increased from 65,860 to 70,074 thanks to seat optimization works.
-In February 2023, the stadium’s capacity grew to 83,198 following upgrades including modifications to the upper-tier openings, lower-tier seating in the Sívori, San Martín, and Centenario stands, as well as new boxes in Centenario and Sívori. This total does not include the newly constructed Belgrano Inferior stand.
-After the completion of the Belgrano Inferior stand in June 2023, the stadium’s capacity reached 84,593 spectators.
-This year, following the completion of the upper-tier stand connection and the finalization of seat replacements in the upper tiers and San Martín and Belgrano boxes, the final capacity of 85,018 spectators was reached.
-The four new lower-tier stands provide seating for 29,458 spectators, considering the reduced capacity of the Sívori and Centenario upper stands, which changed from general admission to seated sections (previously, each held 15,000 spectators). Additionally, the upper-tier connection added 1,160 new seats.
MORE TECHNOLOGY
One of the latest upgrades and improvements is the 360° LED screen, featuring cutting-edge technology and installed along the stadium’s mid-tier stands. With an impressive resolution and size, it consists of 610 modules, each measuring 0.8 m x 0.9 m, and spans 488 meters in length and 0.9 meters in height to cover the entire mid-tier level of the Mâs Monumental. It features a resolution of 48,800 x 90 pixels and 6,500 nits of brightness.
A major recent milestone was the installation of the new giant screen at the Sívori end—one of the stadium’s most emblematic spots. It offers a larger size, higher resolution, and greater visibility to keep enhancing the fan experience.
The LED display spans 28.8 x 12 meters, covers an area of 362.9 m², and delivers a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels in top-tier high-definition quality.
