Shortly after, River came close to equalizing with a fantastic bicycle kick by Maxi Meza that went just over the crossbar.

Gallardo’s team pressed for an equalizer, and Ignacio Fernández had a chance with a powerful left-footed shot to the near post, which was saved by Tomás Durso. Around the 25-minute mark, Leandro González Pirez headed in a corner from the right taken by Nacho to make it 1-1. At the end of the first half, River Plate took a 2-1 lead with a knee goal by Miguel Borja, following a cross from Fabricio Bustos on the right, and Borja almost extended the lead with an impressive bicycle kick.

Less than two minutes into the second half, Mateo Bajamich had a go from outside the box, and his left-footed shot hit the post. River hit back with a fantastic team move on the right involving Bustos and Simón, ending with a shot from Borja that was deflected and nearly resulted in a 3-1 score. Around the 73rd minute, Maxi Meza headed the ball over the line after a good play by Marcos Acuña, sealing the match at the Mâs Monumental stadium.
