After nine laps of honour wearing River Plate’s jersey, more than 40 goals and endless joys, Rodrigo Mora lived a unique night at his home, the Monumental Stadium, on Saturday, July 13th. That night, the same place which saw him shine, got ready to celebrate and pay him a heartfelt tribute.

In the build-up to the match, the fans who came could enjoy live music and a street band playing. Then, once on the field, Jorge Brito (1st Vice-President), Stefano Di Carlo (2nd Vice-President) and Ignacio Villarroel (Secretary) handed the Uruguayan player a plaque and a picture.

After the match started, the goals were not long in coming: in the first half, 2015 River was winning 5-2, thanks to four goals by Mora and one by Ariel Ortega. For the other team, the actor Brian Buley, who works with Mora on the tv series El Marginal, scored both goals.

Before the beginning of the second half, Leonardo Ponzio, on behalf of the players, presented him with a River jersey autographed by all of them. Mora also received a plaque and a Peñarol jersey (the team he supports) from Jorge Barrera (President of the Uruguayan club) and the coach, Gregorio Pérez.

During the second half, there were goals for both sides and there was also room for emotionality, when Máximo, Mora’s son, entered the field and had the pleasure of celebrating two goals. When the match ended, Rodrigo addressed the whole stadium and spoke some heartfelt words to all River supporters and enjoyed watching an emotional video displayed on the screen.

Apart from those who played the 2015 Libertadores Cup and the historic 2018 one, other former players were present, including Enzo Francescoli, Norberto Alonso, Ariel Ortega, Marcelo Gallardo, Fernando Cavenaghi, Cristian Ledesma, Javier Saviola and Marcelo Saracchi.
