From the very beginning, River dominated, relentlessly pinning Deportivo Táchira with constant attacks down the flanks. One of the clearest chances came early on, with a superb long pass from Sebastián Boselli to Agustín Sant’Anna, who deftly flicked it on to Miguel Borja. However, Jesús Camargo denied him with a low save using his left foot. On another occasion, Enzo Díaz attempted a dangerous half-volley that went just wide.

River kept pressing and created several opportunities that forced the opposing keeper into action: a high shot from Borja after an assist from Pablo Solari, another chance at the feet of Sant’Anna, and a solid save by Camargo on Solari, who was set up by Paulo Díaz. Meanwhile, the Venezuelan team barely made it past the midfield and failed to pose any threat to Franco Armani in the first 45 minutes.

River didn’t change its approach in the second half, and around the 50-minute mark, rightfully took the lead, courtesy of a combination play between Claudio Echeverri and Solari, culminating in Borja tapping the ball into the net. Shortly after, Facundo Colidio came close to scoring a stunner from outside the box, but his shot hit the left post of Deportivo Táchira’s goal.

At the end, Borja capitalized on a move by Franco Mastantuono and sealed the result at home. With this win, River Plate amassed 16 points, finishing as the undefeated leader of Group H and the best among all group leaders in the CONMEBOL Libertadores group stage.
