El Millonario had a better start and didn't take long to bring about dangerous situations: on the first chance, off a great pass from Enzo Fernandez, Julian Alvarez wasn't well positioned to score, and Leonardo Burian read his shot and stopped the ball. Player No. 9 orchestrated another play, striking a low free kick toward the near goalpost that was saved by the home keeper. On his third chance, Julian struck a shot from outside the box.

River kept pressing up the field and Alvarez failed to take advantage of a mistake by Lucas Acevedo. Leandro Gonzalez Pirez reacted well to an attack by Colon on the right-hand side and was able to block the shot before Ramon Abila received the ball. River had another chance when Nicolas De La Cruz struck a right-footed shot off a free kick, but Burian was in the right position to save it.

Toward the end of the first half, both teams had exciting opportunities: Julian failed to score following a great combination play with Esequiel Barco, running up the midfield, and Acevedo deflected a very clear header off a free kick on the right-hand side.

Colon had a better start to the second half and scored thanks to Abila. However, the goal was correctly disallowed due to offside. River kept creating dangerous situations turning Burian into a key figure after he blocked two very good shots on goal from Santiago Simon and Barco. Following another controversial play, the home team took the lead, thanks to a goal by Abila, after checking the VAR.

Braian Romero had a great chance on the next play, off a cross from Jose Paradela from the left-hand side, but his shot went high. River kept trying to score from all angles, but failed to even the score. Next match will be on Sunday, against Union at the Mâs Monumental Stadium.
