The team managed by Martín Demichelis had chances against Talleres, but the home team won 2-1. River remains the sole leader of the tournament, being five points above the second-placed team.

The first 45 minutes were full of back-and-forth action, with clear goal scoring chances for both teams. Even though River had the first clear scoring chance, with a great set up by Nico De La Cruz, Esequiel Barco couldn't make an on-target pass to Salomón Rondón through the center.

The home team counterattacked quickly, but Franco Armani reacted brilliantly to save the shot. River had another scoring chance: Leandro González Pirez struck a shot following a rebound, off a free kick, but Guido Herrera made a good save by his right goalpost. Talleres had another chance: Michael Santos was one-on-one with Armani, but River’s keeper prevented him from scoring.

The home team had two more chances, with shots from Gastón Benavídez and Ramón Sosa, and River almost set the score at 1-0 with a right-footed shot from Lucas Beltrán (saved by Herrera) and a shot from Milton Casco, which bounced away. Toward the end, Esequiel Barco struck a right-footed shot from outside the box, which went just wide of the goal, and De La Cruz sent a great free kick toward Herrera's top right corner. Talleres had one more chance in the first half, when Rodrigo Villagra struck a volley that went just wide.

At the start of the second half, River threatened a goal with another free kick taken by De La Cruz, and the home team responded with a shot from Lucas Suárez. Near the 63rd minute, after Sosa made a run upfield, Rodrigo Garro set the score at 1-0, scoring off a rebound in front of the goal. River was very close to equalizing, with contributions from two substitutes: Pablo Solari couldn’t beat Herrera and the rebound caught Matías Suárez off guard, whose shot went over the bar.

Talleres struck again, when Garro sent a left-footed shot in off the crossbar, from outside the box, setting the score at 2-0. With ten minutes left, off a good cross from Casco, Suárez reduced the deficit with a downward header. The team kept trying until the end, but couldn’t equalize. However, River remains as sole leader of the championship, five points above the second-placed team; on the next matchday, the team will host Platense at the Mâs Monumental stadium.
