River kicks off with a draw at Vicente López Marcelo Gallardo’s team opened the Torneo Apertura with a 1-1 draw against Platense. Matías Rojas scored River’s goal.

River had the first chances of the game—an attacking run by Gonzalo Montiel, a header from Giuliano Galoppo, and a long-range shot by Maximiliano Meza. However, Platense took the lead through Ignacio Vázquez, capitalizing on a set-piece opportunity.
Gallardo’s team sought the equalizer, controlling possession and pushing forward with good attempts from Manuel Lanzini and Marcos Acuña, whose shot was blocked when it was headed toward Juan Pablo Cozzani’s goal. Before halftime, Franco Armani made a crucial save against Franco Minerva’s powerful left-footed strike.
Early in the second half, Galoppo couldn’t connect cleanly from the edge of the box after a play by Lanzini. River kept dominating in attack but struggled to create clear-cut chances. Toward the end, Armani denied Platense a second goal, and Rodrigo Aliendro attempted a shot from distance. In the final minutes, Matías Rojas scored a well-placed header to secure a deserved draw.
Gallardo’s team now prepares for the next match on Wednesday at the Mâs Monumental stadium against Córdoba’s Instituto, on Matchday 2 of the tournament.
