ESRiver draws against Talleres
On Matchday 13 of the Torneo Apertura, Marcelo Gallardo’s team drew 1-1 at the Mâs Monumental. It was Miguel Borja who found the net, heading home a pinpoint cross from Gonzalo Montiel.
River controlled most of the first half, with Facundo Colidio and Franco Mastantuono coming close on a couple of occasions, but it was Talleres who broke the deadlock shortly after the restart, capitalizing on a fast transition from the back.
River kept pushing for the equalizer and created several chances, especially through Mastantuono, who hit the crossbar with a powerful right-footed shot and was later denied by goalkeeper Guido Herrera after a brilliant run in the box.
As the match neared its end, Montiel whipped in a superb cross from the right and Borja rose to nod it in for the equalizer. The Colombian had a golden chance to steal the win in stoppage time but couldn’t get a clean strike away. Gallardo’s team remains in the qualification spots and will now look ahead to next Friday’s match against Gimnasia in La Plata.
