The first half of the game became quite stop-start, with few attempts on goal. As for River, Miguel Borja dropped back to midfield to join the action, and the first attempt was a shot from outside the box by Santiago Simón. Next, the midfielder had another go with a more dangerous right-footed shot after a subtle pass from Manuel Lanzini.
In one of the clearest chances, Nacho Fernández was unable to find the target with a cross from Fabricio Bustos after a brilliant team effort on the right; meanwhile, Platense responded with a wayward shot from Guido Mainero that posed no threat to Jeremías Ledesma. The last chance of the first half was a high left-footed shot from Nacho, following a recovery by Facundo Colidio.
The second half had the same dynamic. River took control, Gallardo made substitutions, and the team began to settle into the game. Around the 65-minute mark, Colidio made a great run down the left and delivered a backward cross that Borja couldn’t quite reach for a comfortable shot. The home team didn’t attempt a shot until the 73rd minute, when Mateo Pellegrino took a long-range strike.
River kept pressing until the end, had a clear counterattack, and a volley from Paulo Díaz, but couldn’t break the deadlock and ended with a draw. The team now sits with 25 points in the Liga Profesional de Fútbol table.
