River beats Vélez in a goal-filled celebration

Riding the momentum from last week’s big win over Boca Juniors, River Plate picked up another three points and secured second place in the group. The night was filled with goals and celebrations as Sebastián Driussi, Facundo Colidio, Nacho Fernández, and Miguel Borja all found the net.

Gallardo’s team took control from the start and never allowed Vélez to settle, conceding only during one of the few moments of danger. In the second half, River stayed solid at the back and remained in control up front, creating chances to score a fourth, which finally came through a late penalty converted by Borja.

The fans brought the party to all four stands, creating a stunning backdrop for a perfect night. River will now turn its focus to the CONMEBOL Libertadores, facing Barcelona in Ecuador on Thursday, before playing the Round of 16 of the Torneo Apertura against Barracas Central at the Mâs Monumental.
