On Monday, February 7th, the presentation of the Monumental Stadium remodeling project took place. The project was submitted by President Jorge Brito to the Board and the Members’ Representative Assembly for the analysis of its general and specific points, as well as its financing structure. Following the agreement of the Club’s different governing bodies, the Monumental Stadium will become South America’s largest stadium by capacity.

The event was held in the Club’s multi-purpose room and was attended by Jorge Brito (President), Stefano Di Carlo (General Secretary), and Mariano Taratuty (Recording Secretary and President of Civil Works and Infrastructure). The event was also attended by Matias Patanian (1st Vice President), Ignacio Villarroel (2nd Vice President), Board members, Rodolfo D’Onofrio, Enzo Francescoli, Marcelo Gallardo, Leonardo Ponzio, Norberto Alonso, and Ubaldo Fillol. Brito announced that the works will start once the project is approved by the Members’ Representative Assembly. “It is a very important day for all of us. We are here today to further Antonio Vespucio Liberti’s legacy and make his dream grow. We want to highlight that this work is carried out by River, thanks to a lot of financial and economic creativity. We have been working toward achieving this for many years with the previous boards, and the day has finally arrived. We know that all River Plate fans have been waiting for this and we wish to make it a reality.” For his part, Di Carlo stated that the project submitted to the Board has two financing sources: naming and the pre-sale of seats resulting from this work. Furthermore, Taratuty added that the first stage is expected to finish this year, so that it can be opened in February 2023; the second stage will take a similar amount of time.
