El Millonario displayed a clear superiority after the initial minutes. Paulo Diaz made the first penetrating run, running up the rival side of the field and firing a shot that went high. Then, River opened the scoring thanks to a nice, crossed right-footed shot by Julian Alvarez. From then onward, River dominated the match and created many clear situations to widen the lead.

In the next play, Julian stole the ball and went one on one with keeper Jose Devecchi, who blocked the shot. Then, the forward almost took the ball away from the rival keeper inside the goal area. River kept making penetrating runs and Braian Romero failed to score off a good assist from Matias Suarez. Then, after a move by Alvarez and a last-resort handball by Fabricio Coloccini on a shot by Suarez, player no. 9 took a penalty kick, but Devecchi saved it in the center of the goal.

River had three more scoring chances before the end of the first half: Robert Rojas headed a cross from the left side that went just wide of the net; then, Suarez caught the ball in the box but wasn’t comfortable to strike it and, on the last opportunity, Alex Vigo fired a shot from the right side that went high over the crossbar.

In the second half, Gallardo’s team used the same formula and cornered Aldosivi. Goal scoring opportunities started coming, such as a clear one for Suarez and a long-range shot by Romero. In a good counterattack, after Bruno Zuculini recovered the ball, Casco fired a backward cross and Enzo Perez forced a diving header into the net to score the well-deserved second goal.

El Millonario continued dominating, was well positioned and could have scored one more goal, but still rounded off a good night at the Monumental Stadium. Toward the end, Franco Armani made an excellent save on a shot from Leandro Maciel. Thanks to this victory, el Millonario now has 14 points and is two spots away from the top of the tournament’s chart. On the next matchday, River will visit Sarmiento in Junin.
