Matchday 3: draw against San Lorenzo River Plate and San Lorenzo played to a goalless draw this Sunday, February 2, in the 2025 Torneo Apertura.

The match kicked off with an intense first half where both teams had clear chances at the Pedro Bidegain stadium. Marcos Acuña came close to opening the scoring in the first minute, but his shot went over the bar. A few minutes later, San Lorenzo took the lead, only for VAR to correctly disallow the goal due to offside.
River quickly responded with an individual effort from Miguel Borja and a left-footed shot from Manuel Lanzini that went high. The home team answered with a header from Alexis Cuello, forcing a great save from Franco Armani. El Millonario nearly broke the deadlock when Paulo Díaz’s header hit the crossbar, followed by an impressive reaction from goalkeeper Orlando Gill to deny a near-post shot from Borja.
At the start of the second half, after a few uneventful minutes, San Lorenzo threatened with a powerful right-footed shot from Malcom Braida that struck the crossbar. River’s best chance came from a well-worked move involving Sebastián Driussi and Lanzini.
As time went on, goal-scoring chances became less frequent, and the match ended in a goalless draw. Marcelo Gallardo’s team now has five points and will prepare for the match against Independiente next Saturday at the Mâs Monumental stadium.
