River Plate, the 2018 CONMEBOL Libertadores Cup champion, already knows which team it will face in the Round of 16 of the 2019 edition: Cruzeiro from Brazil; the first leg will take place at the Monumental Stadium and the second one, in Belo Horizonte.

The most recent antecedent is the 2015 Libertadores Cup quarter finals, won by Marcelo Gallardo’s team: the scores were 0-1 at the Monumental Stadium and the unforgettable 3-0 in Brazil, with goals scored by Carlos Sánchez, Jonatan Maidana and Teo Gutiérrez.
